Native English Teacher – Gimhae, South Korea

We are a growing, independently operated English academy in Jinyeong, Gimhae, near Busan and Changwon. After seven years of operation, we are moving into a much larger facility and adding a new teacher to our team.

Our academy is run by an American Academic Director and Korean Director. We focus on communicative English, small classes, and creating an environment where teachers can actually get to know their students.

Position

- Salary: ₩2.6–2.8 million/month, depending on experience and qualifications

- Hours: Monday–Friday, 1:30 PM–8:30 PM

- Teaching: Normally up to 5 × 60-minute classes per day

- Class size: Maximum 9 students

- Students: Primarily elementary, and some preschool and middle school students.

- Breaks: 10 minutes between classes + 30-minute dinner break

- Housing: Private studio provided, approximately 5 minutes' walk from the academy

- Visa: E-2 sponsorship available

- Insurance: Employer pays 50% of applicable four major social insurance contributions

- Severance: Provided in accordance with Korean law

- Vacation: 10 paid summer vacation days

- Sick leave: 3 paid days per year

- Weekends: No weekend work

- Holidays: Korean national holidays off

- Start: October–early November 2026; some flexibility depending on visa/paperwork

During summer and winter intensive periods, the schedule may occasionally increase to a maximum of 6 classes per day.

Why Our Academy?

Small classes. We cap classes at 9 students, rather than packing 12–15 students into a classroom.

A manageable schedule. Teachers normally teach up to five hours per day, with 10-minute breaks between classes and a 30-minute dinner break.

Private housing close to work. A private studio apartment is provided within approximately a 5-minute walk of the academy.

Independent, direct-hire academy. We are not a large franchise. The directors work at the academy every day, and teacher support, curriculum, and parent communication are handled directly by us.

Long-term students. Many students study with us for several years. Our goal is not simply to move students through a textbook, but to help them become confident English speakers and build long-term relationships with their teachers.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for a teacher who is dependable, positive, and genuinely enjoys working with children.

A strong candidate will be able to create an engaging English-speaking classroom, manage students confidently, communicate well with coworkers, and arrive prepared and on time.

Experience teaching in Korea is a plus, but we are also happy to consider strong candidates who are newer to Korea.
